History
Biltmore Lake is a planned community in WNC and is part of the Asheville metropolitan area. Biltmore Lake is south and west of Asheville’s city center at the edge of Pisgah National Forest.
The American Enka Corporation, a Dutch textile firm, moved to Asheville in 1928. An employer to thousands in WNC, the plant manufactured nylon and rayon yarns for WWII-era parachutes.
In 2001, Biltmore Farms purchased the land from BASF Corporation, which had acquired American Enka in 1985. Neighborhoods are connected by streets, sidewalks, trails, and common areas.
